Curriculum At Children's Learning Center, our day is made up of a program that includes group time, language development/readiness, math readiness, learning centers, art, music, multicultural activities, cooking, foreign language, and science. Incorporating all of these learning areas enables each student to receive a well-rounded education that will prepare them for a lifetime of learning. Group time is used to begin the day and to inform the student in an educational manner about a particular lesson during the day. Morning group consists of concepts such as calendar, pledge, songs, fingerplays, discussions, days of week, weather, and helpers for the day, etc. Other group times are used to inform the student of the main concepts of language lessons, math lessons, science lessons, etc. Language development/readiness helps to develop a child's oral language, vocabulary/sentence development, and listening skills. It also enables students to gain a knowledge of communication with peers and adults as well as to foster a true love for active learning. Math readiness allows the student to explore manipulatives in order to gain a true understanding of the basic concepts of mathematics. While exploring with math concepts, students will learn basic shapes, one to one correspondence, graphing, classification, measurement, patterning, and estimation. Learning centers enable each student to explore and grow within a group setting. Students explore in Block Center, Dramatic Play Center, Manipulative Center, Book/Listening Center, Sand and Water Center, Easel Center, Art Center, and Science Center. Students will work independently, make decisions, and interact with peers while participating in the daily classroom centers. Extra Curricular activities are offered to our students and are well received. We offer dance, gymnastics, and Spanish on a weekly basis and students sign up at an additional cost. Preschool Our preschool curriculum includes both child-initiated and teacher directed activities. Our curriculum is set up to allow teachers to observe and build upon the children’s interest. All learning activities are adaptable to be responsive to children with varying ability levels. Our curriculum recognizes children’s individuality and encourages them to learn, grow, and build confidence.
Curriculum for Two Year Old Classroom The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood is designed to help teachers create a comprehensive curriculum that is tailored to meet the individual differences of children. Each concept or skill is introduced during a Morning Circle activity and then reinforced in learning centers throughout the day, and followed up with a Closing Circle towards the end of the day. Because getting children focused is so critical to learning, every Morning Circle includes a suggestion for grabbing children’s attention. Closing Circle offers suggestions for helping children reflect on their experiences of the day. Each thematic group of lessons includes suggestions for assessing children’s understanding of the skills and concepts presented in those lessons. Some activities are repeated with different themes. Repetition is an important part of learning. It strengthens children’s understanding of patterns and helps clarify information. Repetition of skills is critical to mastery. When children practice what they have learned by repeating an activity, they enlarge their understanding of that skill.
Curriculum for Three Year Old Classroom Creative Resources for the Early Childhood Classroom is a theme based curriculum tailored to the individual child’s academic needs. Each theme or unit contains a flowchart, theme goals, concepts for the children to learn, theme-related vocabulary words, music finger plays, science, dramatic play, creative art experiences, sensory, mathematics, cooking experiences, multimedia recordings, books, and songs.
